Before registering for Banner Classes please verify that all pre-requisites have been met.

In order to complete Banner Navigation you must take Banner Navigation Class (BANNAV7). If you do not take this class before attending the other Finance Banner Classes you will not be able to attend since pre-requisites have not been satisfied.

Basic Navigation - BANNAV7

Target Audience:
All potential Banner users

Course Overview: The Banner Basic Navigation training course will familiarize you with Banner, emphasizing forms, menus, and creating queries. This course is designed as a first exposure to Banner.  Its goal is to familiarize you with the Banner interface and demonstrate navigation through the modules. What is learned in this class can be applied to all the Banner modules and is not specific to one module. The basic navigation exercises will be module specific.

Banner Basic Navigation training is the prerequisite for all other Banner Finance training.

Introduction to Banner Finance - FIN101

Target Audience: All potential Banner Finance users, including departmental staff responsible for entering requisitions, querying accounting information, managing funds, or initiating financial paperwork that is submitted to Financial Services .  This course is a prerequisite for all other Banner Finance courses.

Course Overview:  This course will focus on understanding the relationship between Banner Finance and the other modules; the components of the Banner Finance module; the basic structure of the Chart of Accounts; the relationship between the Banner “index” and other elements of the Chart of Accounts; and learning how to query on basic accounting information such as available budget, cash balance, and transaction details.

Requisitioning/Receiving – FPO201
FPO201 Lab (Lab is required for course completion)

Target Audience: Employees with departmental purchasing responsibilities, including requisitioning and receiving goods and services.

Course Overview: This course will focus on understanding the relationship between the Purchasing module and the other Finance modules; creating purchasing documents; tracking purchasing documents through the system; and entering receiving on purchased goods and services.

FPO201 Lab: This class is a hands on practice session to reinforce the principles that were taught in the FPO201 class.  All users requesting Requisitioning and Receiving access must complete both FPO201 and FPO201L before access can be given.

Finance Departmental Administration – FDA301

Target Audience: Employees with departmental financial responsibilities, including purchasing, grants administration, and budget management responsibilities; users of FRS departmental reports; and employees that initiate financial paperwork that is submitted to Financial Services.

Course Overview: Department Administrators have a wide range of responsibilities. This session will provide training on the most prevalent areas using Banner as a tool. Querying the system to find data specific to general fund (state) and grant budgets, cash balances and specific transactions will be covered in depth. A review of some processes for accounts payable and purchasing will be included as well. An introduction of new forms to be used in a variety of operations and a discussion of basic system reports will be provided, including what to expect at "Go-live". Explanation of accounting changes, such as cash to accrual basis, will be addressed.

Finance Advanced - FIN110

Target Audience: Banner departmental experts looking for more from the system and have at least 2 months of Banner Finance Experience.

Course Overview: This course will focus on more in-depth searching skills in Banner Finance; introduce the Expert Query functionality and Data Extract to Excel; and several other tricks about using Banner will be introduced.

CAUTION: Attendees of this course must be extremely comfortable with using Banner, understand the Banner Lingo, and understand the financial transactions and how the pieces fit together.

Using Banner Self Service Financial Menu - FINSSB

Target Audience: Banner Finance users that have attempted to follow the Banner Self Service Financial Menu instructions and have had problems or users that prefer a classroom setting for learning.

Course Overview: This session will include a review of the Using Banner Self Service Financial Menu instructions and address questions or problems.

Finance One-on-One-FINONE

Target Audience: Banner Finance users who feel they need additional one-on-one instruction.

Course Overview: A Banner Finance team member is available to come to your office for more detailed, one-on-one instruction in all aspects of Banner Finance.

Banner Basic Navigation training, Banner Finance Forms & Queries, and Finance 101 are prerequisites for this session.
